Moore Library

Shhh!An emphasis on increasing new items for our customers is always an on-going goal for us at the library. More “sizzlers” are being made available for checkout and we are increasing our New Book collection in higher numbers than ever before. One of the latest technological achievements in “hot” demand is OverDrive, the software that allows downloads of audio books, and the library has it available for customers to enjoy.

The Third Annual Gospel Brunch is slated for the end of February in celebration of Black History Month. We are so proud to be able to offer this multi-cultural performance and this year the internationally acclaimed tenor, Christopher Jones, will headline the event.

The Adult and Teen Services Department will also participate in another Big Read Event in March and April. Featuring this year’s classic book selection, The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett, numerous community programs are planned in connection and will culminate in a showing at the Warren Theatre of the classic Humphrey Bogart black-and-white film.

The Moore Library’s Children’s Department is offering exciting new programs, including Therapy Dogs aimed to improve children’s reading skills. With national child obesity rates soaring, Kid’s Zumba Fitness classes will kick-off in February and join our regular program offerings until the end of May. For teens, Game On, highlighted by Guitar Hero III, Wii, and video games, take front stage and Teen Read Week is scheduled for March.

The Moore Library still offers free computer access, free wi-fi service, and the latest movie dvd’s for check out. Being a family facility open with extended hours of service, comfortable reading areas and research areas, we hope your visit to the Moore Library is enjoyable.

2010 promises to be a phenomenal year full of community events, library programs, and memorable happenings. January, February and March is a time that the library begins to ratchet up in preparation for big Summer Time offerings. So hang on to your hat, clear your calendars, and pencil the Moore Public Library in for quality family activities….we look forward to sharing time with you
