5 for the Future is our slogan for five important projects approved by the voters in 2006 in an $18 million bond issue referendum
S.W. 19th & Telephone Road
Project Description: Widen SW 19th Street to 6 lanes from I-35 Service Road to Telephone Road. Project includes reconstruction the 19th and Telephone intersection to add turn lanes, enhance the drainage in the area, and include sidewalks.
Project Status: Utility relocation is in progress. Bids opened on February 5, 2010. Construction anticipated to begin in March of 2010.
NE 12th, from Eastern to Bryant
Project Description: Reconstruct NE 12th Street from Eastern Avenue to Bryant Avenue. Project includes widening NE 12th Street at the west Buck Thomas Park Drive and Bryant intersection, install signal lights at the west Buck Thomas Park Drive, drainage improvements, and sidewalks. A 10’ multi-use trail will be provided from Bryant Avenue to Winding Creek School.
Project Status: Design 95% complete, and utility relocation has begun. City Council authorized staff to solicit bids.
