Common Violations
The City of Moore Code Enforcement Division handles hundreds of complaints on a monthly basis. Complaints are made on an anonymous basis only. The majority of these complaints include the following:
- Parking in yard
- Weeds and/or grass over 12" tall
- Accumulation of trash and/or litter
Updated Junk Vehicle Ordinance
On August 3, 2009, the Moore City Council passed Ordinance No. 653(09) to expand the definition of a junk vehicle and provide for abatement of the nuisance. Highlights of the ordinance are listed below:
1. Junk Vehicles are defined as a vehicle meeting ANY of the following criteria:
a. Weeds/grass growing under or around car;
b. One or more tires are flat or missing;
c. License tag is out of date;
d. Any portion needed for the street legal operation of the car is missing;
e. City receives complaints that the car is not operational-The owner may successfully refute this claim by starting and moving the car.
2. Tarps can cover non-junk vehicles, however, tarp must be kept in good condition free of tears or holes.
3. A car owner may apply for a “Rebuilder’s Permit” to make extensive repairs on a car, however, the car must be stored inside a garage or workshop at night.
4. The City can tow junk vehicles from private property if proper notice is given.
